Something truly incredible happened last week—our Chair, Amanda Reynolds, received a special invitation to 10 Downing Street!
Thanks to the support of Ruth Jones MP for Newport West and Islwyn, Amanda had the honour of attending the St David’s Day reception, representing the Save the Six Bells campaign on a national stage.
A Night to Remember
The evening brought together inspirational individuals from across Wales—community champions, cultural icons, and leaders dedicated to making a difference. Hosted by the Prime Minister, the event celebrated Welsh culture, heritage, and the remarkable work happening in communities like ours.
One of the most exciting highlights of the night was Amanda’s opportunity to speak about our campaign with some of Wales' most iconic figures—Alun Wyn Jones, Ken Owens, and Michael Sheen. Their passion for Wales, its heritage, and its communities only reinforced the importance of our mission.
Reflecting on the evening, Amanda shared:
"Walking through those corridors of power, knowing that our community’s voice was being heard at the highest level, was truly humbling. Stepping into No. 10 for an event celebrating everything amazing about Wales was an unforgettable moment. The support we received from some of Wales' most respected figures reinforces how vital our project is."
Why This Matters for Our Campaign
This milestone moment proves that our campaign has real credibility. It’s not just about saving a building—it’s about creating a space that will serve our community for generations to come.
We are beyond grateful to Ruth Jones MP, whose continued support has helped put the Six Bells campaign on the map. She shared her excitement about the event, saying:
“This week I invited Amanda, Chair of the Save the Six Bells campaign group, to a special St David’s Day reception at 10 Downing Street. It was a wonderful event, bringing together community champions from all over Wales!”
The Journey Continues
While this recognition is a huge step forward, there’s still work to be done. The spotlight on our campaign shows that people are taking notice—but we need to keep up the momentum.
The Six Bells is going places, and we’re not stopping now!
