95% of community-owned pubs are still trading, because communities shape them around local needs and support them to succeed.
Across Wales, we’re seeing the loss of pubs that have been at the heart of communities for generations. Places where people gathered, celebrated, and supported one another.
The programme also featured our campaign to Save the Six Bells in Peterstone, highlighting a key reality facing pubs today: to survive, many need to diversify.
That’s exactly what our community is working to do.

Our vision for the Six Bells isn’t just to reopen a pub. It’s to create a community-owned, multifunctional hub that serves the village and surrounding areas: from a welcoming pub and café space to community activities, wellbeing initiatives and opportunities that bring people together.
It’s a model that works. In fact, around 95% of community-owned pubs are still trading, because communities shape them around local needs and support them to succeed.
